"The difference between the novice and the master is that the master has failed more than the novice has tried."
Why should I play this race? Who should play this race?
Within the context of Dragonball Z, Namekians are absurdly stronger than they have any right to be, when you think about it.
Nail had a battle power over fourty thousand - this man was stronger than four King Vegetas put together, could have bodied half the Ginyu Force. Namekians are very much on the upper-end of strength, nearing the pinnacle.
But it's not because they get stronger everytime they're nearly dead, or they build up their tension and turn pink.
From birth, a Namekian is assigned a path. A duty. Their civilization is tightly knit, intricately woven, a planetary family. And each and every single one of those Namekians does that job to the best of their ability. Discipline is the root of Namekian strength. Dedication. Devotion. Nothing exciting, no triumphant power-up due to some miraculous win condition - strength amassed by a Namekian is strength earned.
But you will not outwork a Namekian.
Namekians are ungodly devoted to the path that they tread down, each and every one willing to give their life for whatever it is they believe in. Their power lies within grueling effort, and a simply ungodly, bordering divine knack for ki control - the things Namekians are able to do with energy, ranging from regeneration, healing, and creating wish-granting magical fucking orbs that summon a goddamn dragon that is the series' namesake, infringe on the territory of celestial beings and are beyond awe-inspiring.
With a host of bullshit unique traits, regenerating, stretching your limbs, converting strength into ki damage, branching paths...
Well, shit, the only downside is you're green with no genitalia.
If you don't give a fuck, man, this race is the time of your life.
Wait wait wait wait. Slow down. They can do what?
Namekians are big practitioners of balance. And so, for them, amplification of a stat can result in the raising of another. If a Namekian has exceedingly high strength, he can convert some of it into strengthening his energy attacks. If their spiritual resistance is high, they're able to utilize it to better mitigate physical attacks. Things like that.
MAN, WHO NEEDS A DICK?
That's what I'm saying.
Their anger is low. Their transformations are less flashy and glamorous than most.
But they are so fucking strong.
Alright, Blue, you know it's time to spill those mechanics though.
Sure.
Namekians ascend, as every other race does, by training to BP requirements. They are a completely non-automated race until their transformation. You just train my guy. You'll automatically ascend and gain stats, and be able to select a path - Dragon, the more spiritually-inclined, Warrior, the guys that bust you the fuck up(mystically,) and...
Nameless.
There can only be one Nameless Namekian though.
What the fuck is a-
PICCOLO. IT'S PICCOLO.
It's a Namekian who is...different than the others, with strangely high power and the strange ability to utilize the 'Giant' form. Not much else about them is different. They're sort of a middle-ground between the two others - all three wind up about roughly equal later on. Think of it sort of like Low-Class, Normal-Class, and Elite Saiyans. But not really. Sort of. Whatever.
Look, you wanna see the passives?
Namekians start with Extend Attack, Extend Grab, and have augmented hearing.
Namekians start with Burst Regeneration and Injury Recovery.
Namekians can fuse with one another. Fusing with another Namekian gives you BP add varying based on their base BP plus the BP add of any transformations they might have unlocked. You can fuse with only one other Namekian.
Namekians are immune to extreme weather conditions(heat, cold.)
Namekians are capable of using Namekian Fission in order to split themselves into two beings, but this requires the original Namekian(who split into two) be at atleast a Super Saiyan level of power. Both of these beings start at TE, but can fuse back together for an RPPower buff.
Namekians racially have telekinesis and telepathy, unlocked in Third Eye era.
Namekians start with Sense and Power Control purchased.
Namekians racially acquire KaikÅsen(Antenna Beam) at Third Eye. It serves as a point and click, force vs. resistance(ignoring BP) for the check, 3 second max duration stun.
Namekians can hear whispers from farther away.
Namekians convert a percentage of their strength into damage for their force-based attacks, and mitigate a percentage of physical damage with their Resistance. These amounts increase with levels of SNJ
That's what every single Namekian gets. I see you getting fired up. Slow down baby.
Now, these are what's exclusive to each path(in addition to unique stat growth:)
Dragons have lowered energy and fatigue cost on Burst Regeneration and Injury Recovery.
Dragons can apply for the ability to make the Dragon Balls.
Warrior Namekians gain increased accuracy for a short stint after landing an extend attack, allowing them to follow up with more blows.
Warrior Namekians briefly stun the target after pulling them to them with Extend Grab.
Warrior Namekians, every 60 seconds, proc a free Extend Attack when they use Attack.
Nameless Namekians have reduced drain from utilizing techniques, and gain a slight damage increase when using multi-hit combos or ki attacks.
Nameless Namekians have access to Giant Form. Giant Form does not scale, nor does it stack with SNJ. It's merely an early-game boon.
If Nameless Namekians fuse with a counterpart, they gain access to a racial buff called "Nameless" that temporarily gives them passive regeneration, but has an extremely long cooldown.
SNJ-
Look, brother, this game is supposed to be up this month, alright, keep up with me. Super Namekian. It's not a very flashy transformation, but it has escalating levels that further refine ki control and grant astonishing amounts of raw power. It runs parallel to the Super Saiyan forms.
Super Namekian forms are admin-unlocked, but, similarly to SSJ forms, can be taught, and eventually, most become auto-unlock.
Burst Regeneration consumes an amount of energy to heal you, but won't heal you above certain health thresholds(say if you were knocked below 25% health, you wouldn't be able to heal back above 25% health, as an example of how this works,) counterparts are totally optional, Namekian Fusion has a limit of one usage per person, but counterparts don't count, so thus, the maximum amount of fusions a Namekian could undergo is two.
Healer Namekians have a focus on recovery, moreso even than other Namekians, but suffer in other stats.
Warriors are offensively-inclined.
The Nameless is extremely well-rounded.
There is so much I could fit here. Believe me. But I have an idea - why don't you play a Namekian, and see how dope they are for yourself?
So, there you have it. Namekians. Good Lord they have a lot of mechanics. There's so much going on, between the counterpart system, regeneration, the stat balancing, the three paths, and an outlandish amount of passives, but that just makes them all the more enjoyable to play as. If you're really looking for something unique, something different? This is your race. I promise, there'll be no one else like you.
Because nobody plays fucking Namekians.
If you're the crazy bastard that is going to, stick around. I'm going to do the IC guide for them later. Until then...
