One by one, I witness the fall of myths, of legends, of gods. As the world mourns and falls apart, I can't help but wonder if I'm the cause, or the coincidence.
Everyone knows what you are.
The very name of this race invokes trepidation, suspicion, and even outright panic. They say a man stood at God's right, closer to him than any has ever been, and that these are those crafted in his image - the embodiments of the fallacies of man, who is modeled after God.
But you are neither God, nor Man.
No one knows where Demons come from. How they start. How they begin. What the fuck they even are. Demons are the embodiment of sin, but does that sin exist because it is in man, or is it within man because of demons?
What a demon is is beyond comprehension, and so, other races sought to comprehend. They have attached labels, come up with words, names, all unfamiliar to the demon. Within the mortal mind, it makes sense. To Demons, nothing has to make sense at all, but they humor these mortal terms, whether because it amuses them, or because there's no unity between them to come up with labels of their own.
A Demon begins at E-Class.
These cannot be mistaken for anything remotely close to a human, or even Saiyan. Their appearance wildly varies, but they do not look in any way humanoid. They are intelligent creatures, conniving, perhaps, even, but when they speak, it is in demonic tongues that harm the ears of those who lack divinity. It's notoriously hard for them to remain elusive for long, but some do masquerade as aliens, stumbling into settlements and pretending to belong, merely never speaking.
But it's always just a matter of time.
Demons grow at an exponential rate, from a plethora of stimuli. Some say they feast on people. Others would claim they harvest sin itself, manipulating mortals into doing terrible acts and somehow profiting from it. Whatever it is that triggers the phenomena, an E-Class Demon that does not die will not remain an E-Class demon - they will continue to advance, to grow, and the more they develop, the closer they can be likened to their very creator.
D-Class Demons become the embodiment of a sin. The Seven Deadly Sins, that is. You saw that coming. It isn't too surprising. That which was established in mythology near or perhaps even arguably before the dawn of recorded history, but as with many things regarding demons, we aren't too sure if we came up with these premises, or if they, or something, is merely humoring us. Regardless, Demons themselves choose the path that they embark on, drawing from an otherworldly resource called 'Sin' that they draw from the planet's inhabitants as they become stronger.
Pride. Lust. Gluttony. Sloth. Envy. Wrath. Greed.
How the demon appears to others is ambiguous, and varies from demon-to-demon. Some grow extra limbs. Become smaller. Become larger. Some lose an arm, gain an arm. None look human, still, though. It is as if, for whatever reason, it's beyond them. It'd certainly be advantageous to their malicious intention, but a demon does not decide how they appear.
Not yet.
At B-Rank, after an ungodly amount of effort, siphoning, and truly living is when a demon gets to appear Human, and gains access to Devil Trigger.
Wow, this is a lot of goddamn exposition. What do these even really do?
Too much.
Demons start out average, but rapidly spiral out of control if they're allowed to live. Demons are quite possibly the most powerful race in the multiverse, capable of surpassing even full-blown Rares given that they are able to achieve a sufficient amount of admin approvals and reach their terrifying endgame. Yes, admin approvals - alongside Humans, this is the only race that starts at it's weakest ascension and must earn each and every single one no matter what point of the wipe it is, or whether or not they are a reincarnation. There is no automation for demons. Spawn of Lucifer, they possess boundless tenacity and the might of unrestricted evolution, possessing no upper ceiling to their strength.
Each Sin has a host of passives. Those are as follows:
Pride Demons always show as 100% health in the sense verb, regardless of what their actual health is. They are also unaffected by combat slow, and do not have message prompts revealing when they are wearing down.
Pride Demons gain a mild damage increase to their next hit every single time that they're hit, scaling off of Ascension Tier, that resets after they land aforementioned hit.
Pride Demons gain knockback resistance every Ascension Tier.
Pride Demons have the ability to activate their ability, "Sin" to become knockback immune for a few seconds and reset all of their cooldowns, no matter how long.
Every time a Pride Demon misses an attack, their accuracy raises to a cap, and this bonus resets after they land a hit.
The lower a Pride Demon's health is, the more knockback their attacks deal. Each time a Pride is hit with Crowd Control, they gain immunity to Crowd Control afterward for 15 seconds.
Every so often, a Pride automatically pursuits upon knocking someone back, and the frequency with which this happens increases with Ascension Tier(this does not trigger the cooldown of manual pursuit.)
Greed acquire the Cyberize verb racially, and can install all of it's various modules, like Tuffles.
Greed are able to use resources as an alternative to energy for the cost of skills.
Greed are able to use their active ability, "Sin" to grab the person they're targeting within a 3 tile radius to them.
When a Greed Demon acquires Devil Trigger, every so often, they throw out an attack that is guaranteed to hit, has reduced damage, and steals resources.
If a Greed sees an ability get used that they also have and theirs' is on Cooldown, it comes off of Cooldown.
The higher the opponent's powerup is, the more damage the Greed does, to a hardscap scaling on Ascension Tier.
Greed have a chance to take resources on hit, scaling up with ascension tier.
Envy Demons racially acquire Imitate.
After acquiring Devil Trigger, If an Envy is targeting someone and they use a Support Spell on theirselves(Searing Heart, etc,) they are able to copy the buff for free.
Envy Demons can wear sorcery rings and utilize other wizard-only benefits.
Envy Demons have a slotless buff called "Sin" that allows them to take a percentage of the statistical buffs being used by their opponent. The percent scales based on ascension tier.
When an Envy Demon acquires Devil Trigger, their usage of 'Sin' allows them to take a percentage of their target's add as well(up to a hard cap) based on ascension tier.
The farther apart the health gap, whether positive or negative, the less damage an Envy takes, in representation of their sin.
Upon seeing an ability that's on the skill tree, it costs less for an Envy to purchase. Additionally, if they already have that move purchased and it's on Cooldown, it comes off of Cooldown.
Envy Demons anger when anyone around them angers, including who they're fighting.
Wrath Demons are always at their maximum anger, and racially acquire Get DUNKED.
Wrath Demons gain anger(up to a cap, based on Ascension Tier,) from being hit, hitting someone, being stunned, and being knocked back. After awhile, this anger reverts back to their base.
Wrath Demons have the ability to activate their ability, "Sin," in order to freeze the opponent in place for a short duration by screaming.
Wrath Demons gain a very, very slight damage multiplier on their moves the higher their anger is, and utilizing Get Dunked or certain sword moves cashes in on that mult but resets their anger.
Wrath Demons have lowered whiffing chance, but less accuracy.
The more anger Wrath Demons have stockpiled, the higher their movement speed.
Wrath Demons expend more energy fighting, causing the energy drain on everything they do to be more extensive, but building up and 'spending' anger restores their energy.
Lust Demons racially acquire the ability to manifest a nerfless ki blade that perfectly adds strength and force with no nerf.
Lust Demons gain passively increasing damage every single time they dodge that is reset when they're hit, scaling with Ascension Tier.
Lust Demons have the ability to use their active ability, Sin, in order to pull their target to them and temporarily debuff their movement speed as well as defense.
Lust Demons, upon activating Devil Trigger, gain gradually ramping accuracy the more blows they land in succession, breaking when they miss a hit.
Lust Demons have lowered attack delay with each hit they land in succession, resetting when they miss a hit.
Every so often, a Lust's next attack warps them to their opponent and does mild bonus damage scaling off of Ascension Tier.
Lust Demons have a chance of inflicting a Charm debuff with their every strike which causes the victim's offense to lower temporarily.
Gluttony possess the racial ability to consume others(Absorb.) They're also able to consume limbs for a lesser, nonlethal boost.
Gluttony gain temporary RPPower buffs(up to a hardcap, scaling with Ascension Tier,) for consuming people and limbs.
Gluttony have a chance to automatically ingest any ki attack thrown their way. The chance of this proc occuring scales up with Ascension Tier.
Gluttony have a racial called 'Sin' that gives them 33% bonus health. After 30 seconds, they lose 16.5% health. Has a longer cooldown than other sins.
Gluttony have the smell verb, and when smelling humans, do bonus damage to them.
After unlocking Devil Trigger, Gluttony store up a % of the damage they take(scaling off of ascension tier,) and unleash it upon their next heavy strike as an additional damage mult.
Gluttony demons have a racial ability called 'Ingest' usable when they grab someone, which allows them to store someone in their gut and do damage over time until they break the grab.
Sloth Demons racially acquire Telekinesis.
Sloth Demons deal more damage with all abilities, but they have longer cooldowns.
Sloth Demons have the ability to activate their ability, "Sin," to utilize an extremely strong, Lariat-like charge, but afterward, they cannot move or dodge for three seconds.
Sloth Demons have a higher soft Powerup cap, but a slower Powerup rate.
After unlocking Devil Trigger, every so often, the next hit a Sloth lands will give them extra damage and a burst of movement speed for a few seconds, scaling off of Ascension tier.
Sloth do extra damage based on how much energy they have, with a cap based on Ascension Tier, capping at 100% energy. Their damage is nerfed at 20% energy and below. Additionlly, attacking expends energy for them.
Sloths can utilize Power Recovery even while Powering Up.
Regardless of chosen Sin, demons are all utterly incapable of doing anything that isn't self-beneficial. A demon does not care for anything but itself, and their own advancement. They cannot be 'heroic', they have no empathy, their logic is not confined to mortal logic, they merely think, act, and breathe differently. Some are the personification of their sins, and yet others embody them in more subtle ways. No demon is the same as another, regardless of Sin.
And each and every single one is terrifying in their own right, with the potential to become The Devil himself.
Well god damn.
Ok.
Well why does this get to start off average, become strong kind of early, and then have the most terrifying endgame?
Elementary, my dear Wattson.
Because it's a forced fucking villain.
You're not being anything but a full-blown antagonist or at the very minimum, an antagonistic force as a Demon. Period. There is no wriggle room in this. It is a straight, rigid commitment to utterly dickheaded behavior. And that, on it's own, can get boring to most.
And lonely.
What stands at the end of this lonesome, boring road is the potential to be a scaling villain, fighting against the heroes as a recurring threat over the course of a wipe, and potentially standing as the final menace to the very end.
There are no guarantees, either, and your life could be snuffed out in an instant. Your own demonic allies, as selfish as you, could kill or devour you, to accelerate their own growth. They're even encouraged to.
It's all on you, Demon, to let nothing stand between you and your ambitions.
If I choose this, if I decide I wanna just say fuck it, what all do I need to know about this race?
You begin E-Rank, and you're not allowed to look human, or human esque. Closest you'd be allowed is like a ghoul, or a skeleton. You could be anything from a floating eyeball to a toaster with legs. I don't give a shit. But you're not going to look anything remotely approaching like a normal person.
At D-Rank, you choose a sin, and it changes your stat progression.
Demons have mostly balanced stats, with a couple of exceptions, but they also all specialize in some departments. These descriptions assume a Demon has hit their powerspike(B-Rank and higher, for the most part):
Pride Demons have balanced stats, but lean toward Strength and Offense. They're only mediocre with Force, but exceptional at everything else.
Greed Demons are well-rounded, but all-around less combat-inclined than their brethren. This is because they are able to augment themselves with technology with no repurcussion, encouraged to be cyborgs.
Envy Demons are well-rounded, but especially excel in Force and Resistance.
Wrath Demons are well-rounded, but have slightly lower stats all-around. They excel in Strength and Force.
Lust Demons have abysmal endurance and resistance but ludicrous Speed, Offense and Defense. They are the premier glass cannon and possess possibly the highest DPS potential in the entire game. They specialize in Speed, Offense, and Defense, but also possess formidable Strength and Force.
Gluttony Demons are well-rounded, but also have some of the highest Endurance and Resistance in the entire game.
Sloth Demons are well-rounded, but specialize in Speed and Force.
Demons also have a racial called 'Demon Energy' that takes both the Special Slot and normal Buff Slot, but is a customizeable, scaling buff that grows more powerful as they ascend. You're able to allocate points to decide it's statistical upgrades. You're able to utilize Demon Energy beginning at C-Rank.
It runs parallel to the non-demon equivalent, the Awakening "Spirit Energy."
At B-Rank, you're allowed to look however you so please, whenever you so please, but only Envy Demons can copy the unique energy signature and precise voice of a person. They are also able to access Devil Trigger.
Devil Trigger is also customizeable, much the same as Demon Energy, and, like Super Saiyan, High Tension, Super Namekian, and a plethora of other forms, grants unique passives while using it.
Demons decide, from start to finish, just what kind of nightmare they want to become.
So, there's Demons. If you're someone who is very much looking to just fuck up other people's days, wants to be an eldritch abomination, or maybe just some sleazy fat oaf that eats people and is thousands of years old, this is your race. The flagship villain race, there are many, many things you can do with demons, and you'll never be wanting for more. The only issue is that, sort of like humans, except not bad, it is a very skill-reliant race, but skill of a different kind. Not just verb skill, but masterful, well-paced antagonism, the ability to remain relevant without killing all of those who oppose you or dying yourself, remaining interesting and refreshing to those you antagonize..it's really not a rookie's race, either.
But man is it fucking fun.
Stick around for the IC guide, if ya' want. Until then, smell ya' later.
