“Little by little, what you’ve begun will naturally become important to you. All you need at the start is a little bit of curiosity.”
What the hell is a specialization? Where's the next race guide?
Look, ai'ight, there is a lot to cover that is not about races. Like a lot a lot. So much that I was tempted to let a Naruto roleplayer write some of these guides for me. Yes, a fucking Naruto roleplayer. Good help is hard to find these days, dawg. So I'm just gonna sink right into the meat and potatos, right to the damn point, with a revolutionary concept from the jump:
Size means nothing in anime.
Seriously - it doesn't do jack shit. Nappa and Bojack were heavy ki users. Broly is an iconic ki user.
So instead of sizes, we have...
Specializations. In addition to the points at character selection. Specializations adjust your stats in unique ways, like body sizes, but unlike them, have nowhere near as much impact on your stat mods. Think .8/1.2 adjustments instead of like .5/1.75 type buffs/nerfs(not exact numbers, just giving you an idea.) Specializations have a number of unique interactions and special flavor on certain races or with certain buffs, and have some cool little nuances to them as well.
So how does it work?
You don't select small/medium/large at the beginning of the wipe, instead, on like day 4-day 7 of the wipe, "Choose Specialization" will be enabled for all players. When this happens, meditating gives you the 'Choose Specialization' verb. Power, Balanced, Technical are the options. All 3 of them alter your stats. Hitting the button gives a prompt asking how you plan to train the rest of the wipe:
"You just gotta take a hit and hit them back twice as hard." Powerful - Minor cuts to off/def/speed mods, buffs to Strength/Force/End/Res mods. Slightly reduces the cooldown of Heavy Strike.
"I'll be so fast, no one'll ever hit me again." Skilled - Minor cuts to Strength/Force/End/Res mods, Buffs to Speed/Off/Def mods. Slightly reduces the cooldown of Zanzoken.
"I won't have weaknesses. Only strengths." Balanced - Very mild buffs to every stat mod. Makes Block grant a very small amount of bonus mitigation.
Choose Specialization verb then vanishes.
A week later, days 11-14 territory, admins enable subspecializations. Meditating then gives you the 'Choose Sub-Specialization' verb. Sub-specializations stack with the buffs of specializations. You are then asked yet another question, asking how you've continued to hone your abilities over the years. These are the possible results:
Heart - You tap into your anger when you fight, striking furiously. You now get two charges of Heavy Strike before it goes on Cooldown.
Soul - You maintain a cool head when you fight, striking swiftly. You now have a slight chance to counter for a percentage of the damage of a normal attack whenever you dodge(this has a cooldown for sanity purposes.)
Will - You manage a balance of both, overwhelming with well-balanced excellence. Every so often, you'll counter the next attack you block with a free Heavy Strike.
Sub-specializations do not change stats.
The game informs you what you chose, but you can never change it. The game bestows you with a 'Title' depending on the combination of two that you've chosen. This title, decided by the combination of two specializations you chose, also has a unique passive, for a total of three passives from specializations allotted to everyone. Powerful and Heart has a different title/3rd passive than Powerful and Soul, etc etc. Titles serve the purpose of making your journey/selection just that little extra bit more unique, and give a name to the path you chose.
Okay, but, what are those passives?
Well it wouldn't be fun if I told you yet. But I will. Stay tuned for the possible titles and what each one does later on!
Until then, see you next time.
